Romantic Amalfi hotels: a room with a view

Finding a hotel with the most romantic view ever is no easy feat, but in Italy and especially along the Amalfi Coast, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice!

And as we all know, when it comes to romance the rules are simple; go big or go home. The bigger the bouquet, the bigger the diamond, the bigger the view, you see where we are going with this…

So without further ado allow us to introduce you to 5 incredible hotels that will see you both falling in love all over again…

Ravello Art Hotel Marmorata

Ravello Art Hotel Marmorata’s design is inspired by all things nautical and features many salvaged furnishings and ornaments from old ships. Originally an ancient paper mill, the hotel was transformed during the 80’s for travellers wanting to experience the beauty of the Amalfi Coast.

The hotel has exclusive access to the sea and guests can enjoy being lulled by the waves in the Italian sunshine. The terrace swimming pool and Jacuzzi are also the perfect spot to top up your tan whilst enjoying the view.

The Superior Sea-view Room not only provides glorious vistas of the ocean but also boasts a spacious feel, as well as dark wood tones, Spanish-tiled floors and a luxurious bathroom.

Amenities: stunning descent to private beach, swimming pool with Jacuzzi, free parking, fitness room and meeting room.

Hotel Tramonto d’Oro

A family-run hotel in the centre of Praiano this classic Mediterranean-style hotel welcomes guests of all ages with a warm and family-friendly atmosphere. The hotel name translates as ‘Golden Sunset’ and there’s no better spot to enjoy the end of the day than from the roof-top swimming pool or the panoramic restaurant.

The hotel holds a certificate for environmental management and considers itself to be conscientious about every facet of a guest’s stay. In particular, the restaurant pays special attention to guests suffering from food intolerances or allergies allowing them not to miss out on Italian cuisine more than they should have to!

Opt for a Mediterranean Room for stylish blue and white décor, (think Santorini meets Amalfi), a balcony with sea views, large comfortable king-size beds and a spacious and airy living space.

Amenities: Restaurant, rooftop pool, fitness center and snack bar.

Hotel Casa Angelina

We’ll begin with a room with a view. Nothing takes your breath away quite like the sight of a sparkling sea or a pink hazed sunset, so a room at Casa Angelina can certainly provide both of those things, along with jaw dropping levels of luxury.

Enjoy a breakfast at the hotel’s open air terrace, or even a gourmet dinner as the sun goes down. You’ll never have tasted pasta so delicious nor seafood so fresh as at Casa Angelina, as the Italians do what they do best and cook up a storm.

The hotel’s ethos of understated chic rings true as clean white architecture and simple design allow the view to do the talking. As one online reviewer put it, you’ll have ‘the most beautiful view in Italy… from your room.’

Amenities: Two swimming pools (one indoor and one outdoor Jacuzzi with solarium) a private beach and romantic restaurant.

Hotel Santa Caterina

The best reviewed hotel in all of Amalfi, Hotel Santa Caterina is grand luxury in a truly Italian style, taking in all of Positano and the best the Amalfi coast has to offer. Nestled amongst lush gardens and vines of bougainvillea the hotel’s rooms and terraces offer an oasis of calm inside the city walls.

The hotel’s restaurant, Al Mare, is well worth a visit even if you are staying in another hotel close-by, as many of those visiting Amalfi and Positano flock to Al Mare for the express purpose of tasting the unbeatable seafood and exquisite cuisine.

The hotel’s beach club and salt-water pool are easily reached via two elevators, and guests can also enjoy access to the hotel’s spa for massages, facials and body-care treatments.

Amenities: Two restaurants, bar, wine cellar, beach club, gym, and wellness centre.

Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa

There’s nothing better than seeing the water disappear into infinity from the edge of the pool. The Monastero Santa Rosa, built into the side of a cliff, has one of the best infinity pools going, with the clear blue water blending seamlessly with the endless expanse of sea.

As a former 17th century monastery, the hotel retains much of its original charm with restored architecture, beautiful gardens and calming outdoor terraces that make the most of the view. Modern fixtures have been added to the building, such as the 80 square metre spa and each room boasts large soaking tubs that allow you to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

Chef Bob, of the hotel’s Ristorante Il Refettorio, is well known for his insatiable love affair with food. Among many of his delights on the menu, the lobster with chickpea puree and the king prawn ravioli caught our eye.

Amenities: Infinity pool, spa, gardens, sunset terrace, fitness suite and restaurant.
